How do you brand a community space that doesn't exist yet?

The Metro is a maker space coming to Kingston, NY — a creative hub where people of all ages can learn, make, and connect. From the start, the founders knew one thing: the brand couldn't be invented. It had to be discovered.

Studio Analogous led the brand strategy process, beginning with deep listening. We interviewed community members, educators, entrepreneurs, and artists across Kingston — and what came back wasn't a wish list of features. It was a set of values, quietly held and urgently felt.

People talked about opening possibilities they didn't know they had. About a guitar player who "shifted the whole frame." About keeping the aperture open on someone's life long enough for them to realize what they're capable of. About the enemy being the definition of worthiness — and what it might mean to fight it.

We also heard about Kingston itself: its intergenerational energy, its mix of backgrounds and disciplines, its need for a place that connects rather than silos. The Metro, people said, was already woven into what Kingston was becoming.

That word — becoming — kept surfacing. And so did together.

The Concept: Becoming Together

The Metro believes transformation doesn't happen in isolation. It happens in connection — when people across different ages, backgrounds, and disciplines share the same creative space, and something unexpected opens up.

Becoming Together is the idea at the center of The Metro's brand: a creative space for emergence, where ideas, skills, and pathways take shape through the process of making and learning alongside others.

"You can't have wonder and growth without connection."

The brand invites people in with honesty and openness — not a polished promise, but a real one. Come as you are. Leave a little different.
