What does it take to get a world-class agency to actually show up for each other?
J. Walter Thompson had no shortage of talent. What they lacked was a way to surface it — to help employees across regions, brands, and disciplines discover who was sitting on the other side of the organization. The challenge was designing an internal experience worthy of the agency's own creative standards, while giving both explorers and goal-oriented users a reason to engage. We designed a platform that balanced structure with discovery — one that preserved the distinct identity of JWT's regions and brands while creating a consistent, templated framework that scaled across the whole network. The experience encouraged employees to show up fully: rich profiles, genuine connections, and tools that made finding the right person feel less like a search and more like a conversation.
RESULTS
The platform took hold quickly. Within the first year, completed profiles increased 50% and active users grew 125% quarter over quarter. Search became the fifth most active page on the platform, and profile pages climbed to fourth — proof that when the experience is right, people show up.
