¿me llevas?

How do you design a ride-sharing app that moves people — and brings them closer together?
The Inter-American Development Bank had a commuter problem with a community opportunity hiding inside it. Employees spread across the DC suburbs were driving to work alone every day, missing the chance to connect across departments, seniority levels, and backgrounds. The goal wasn't just to reduce emissions — it was to turn the daily commute into a moment of human connection. We designed *¿me llevas?*, a native iOS and Android ride-sharing app built for the IDB community. Powered by real-time data and availability, the app matches drivers and co-riders traveling along common routes — making it easy to share a ride whether you planned ahead or need a last-minute option. The design centered on four key questions: How does a user get a ride? How does a user share one? How do we leverage commuting patterns to make matches smarter? And how do we accommodate spontaneity without creating friction? Every decision flowed from those. The result is an experience that feels effortless — because the complexity happens under the hood, not in the hands of the user.
RESULTS:
¿me llevas? is currently being piloted within IDB, with plans to white-label the platform and extend it to key cities across Latin America and the Caribbean — turning a commuter tool into a model for community-centered mobility.
